October Announcements
Dear Fellow New Horizon Members
With the start of October, most of our activities will now be active. We invite you to check the attached calendar and participate in the events that interest you.
Special Notes: Due to the Municipal elections, some activities will be moved or cancelled on Oct 6, 7, 13 and 14. Please check the calendar for details.
And the Provincial Election may also impact events. Please contact the event coordinator or watch our website (
www.crestonnewhorizons.ca/) for possible impacts.
Finally, a major floor cleaning Oct 8 to 12 will likely require events to be cancelled. This is not yet finalise, so please contact the event coordinator or watch our website for details.
Of particular note:
- The Community Learning session this month will feature representatives from Swan Valley Lodge, talking about what they can offer, both as respite care and to residents. This session reschedules the presentation originally planned for July and should be very interesting. Attendance is free, although donations to cover our rent are gratefully accepted.
- The popular monthly Macrame session returns for another season on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, starting Oct 13 at 10am. The session fee is $5 to cover supplies.
- And the popular Watercolours instruction returns for another season on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, starting Oct 20 at 9:30am. Note that you need to pre-register for this, and the fee is $5 to cover supplies.
- Yoga is starting weekly sessions, as of Friday, Oct 16 at 1pm. Please note the location for the first session due to election voting. Out of respect for the leader and other participants, please arrive sufficiently early to get set up before the class starts at 1.
- Euchre is starting weekly sessions, as of Thursday Oct 15 at 6:30pm. If you know Euchre, you will be thrilled for the opportunity to play regularly. If you do not know this popular card game, come out and learn.
- The weekly Tuesday social dance returns, starting Oct 6 at 2pm. The cost is $7 which includes the fee for the band.
- And finally, our monthly dance is on Oct 31 this month, with DJ Vern supplying the music and (no surprise) a Halloween theme. Get your tickets in advance at Public Vinyl for only $25.
Plus our usual Motion Therapy, Table Tennis, Crib, and Bridge are all on their regular days, except for changes to accommodate the municipal election..
Lots to do to keep yourself active and engaged. Looking forward to seeing you at one or more of these events.
Your friends at Creston New Horizons.
